“Shidafu” comes from pre-Modern China. They were the civil service class trained by the imperial university system.

“Amelu” were the aristocracy in ancient Persia.

Panel 2: Zaynab: "Above them are the shidafu and amelu." Zaynab: "Can you spot any of them?" Maida, as she points to someone in the crowd: "Um... right there?"
Panel 3: Safia: "ERRR! Dead wrong. That's a farang. Her dress is obviously printed off a desktop factory and stitched togevver by hand."
Panel 4: Zaynab: "That was a trick question, Safia! No shidafu or amelu would go to this market." Safia: "If you ever meet one, you'll know."
Panel 5: Zaynab: "The shidafu hold shares in the government. The amelu own land. They both run everyfing because they were here first."
Panel 6: Safia: "Not counting the penguins." Maida: "So everyone here who's not wearing black is a fugee or a farang?" Safia: "A fugee or a farang or a fraction."
