In ancient Chinese cosmology, the Earth is represented with a square. The Earth Republic flag has a white circle on a black background, representative of how the Earth looks from space and a perversion of the UN flag, and you might say the white square on black used by the police and military represents the Earth from the vantage point of standing on the Earth. Nat is off duty here and doesn’t have to wear her uniform, but uniforms have advantages, as we’ll see.

Panel 1: Maida: "Uh. How are you?" Nat: "Alright. Glad to have a break, I guess."
Panel 2: Nat: "The Academy sucks arse. It's just like school, except you can't go home at the end of the day."
Panel 3: Nat: "It's just bullies bullying bullies, all the way to the top." Maida and Zaynab look at each other with wide eyes.
Panel 4: Zaynab: "You get to wear that shuai uniform, at least!" Nat straightens out the front of her uniform. Nat: "Oh, yeh!"
Panel 5: Nat, smiling: "It has its advantages. Watch this, slags!"
Panel 6: They walk towards the departures gate, which is split into three separate queues, including one that's labelled "international priority" and one labelled "international general."
Panel 7: They queue up in the priority lane, which only has a couple of other people in it, where the general lane is quite long. Nat: "Massive queue, sorted."
Panel 8: Nat approaches a device built into the gate they have to walk through. Nat: "Oi! These two bitches are wiff me, yeh?" Device: "Fank-you for your service, Cadet Fisher."
