Maida is not the only Martian at this school.
Hey! I have a story in an anthology that’s fundraising now! The book is called Failure to Launch, and it’s full of true life stories of imagined futures that never came true. I wrote a story about the economics of Star Trek. There’s only one week left to pre-order it! Here’s the link!

Panel 1: The class ends and students stream out into the hallway, heading towards their lockers or chatting in small groups. Narrator: "I'm tired of being the new girl."
Panel 2: Maida and others leave the school out of the front entrance. Narrator: "I hate that I have to start over again in a place where I don't have any friends. Especially when I already have perfectly good friends somewhere else."
Panel 3: Maida, and many other random people, crowd onto a subway train while other people get off. "I really should make an effort to make friends with those girls. Beggars can't be choosers!"
Panel 4: Narrator: "In the meantime..." Sitting on the train between two strangers, Maida opens up her holographic screen.
