This flashback is a parallel to this scene at the train station way back in chapter one.

Panel 1: We're back on Mars at the train station where Maida's brother disappeared. There are Kakure fighter jets flying over head.
Panel 2: Ibrahim looks alarmed as he sees a train blown up by the Kakure. His mom holds on to him tight. He's about eleven years old.
Panel 3: The crowd starts to move, en masse, away from the explosion. Ibrahim's mom pushes him in front of her, but he can't see anything.
Panel 4: He stumbles and hits his head on someone's elbow. His mom loses her grip on him.
Panel 5: He's on his hands and knees on the train platform, a bit stunned, as people rush around him.
Panel 6: Behind him, through the crowd, he can see a father and child menaced by a tall, brightly-coloured figure, but he can't see their face.
Panel 7: He's grabbed from behind in a firm grip.
